Profenofos 50% EC is a broad-spectrum, non-systemic organophosphate insecticide and acaricide widely used in agriculture to control various pests.

Key Uses
• Target Pests: Effective against sucking pests (aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies), foliar-feeding larvae (bollworms, semiloopers), mites, and girdle beetles.
• Crops: Commonly applied to cotton, soybean, tea, maize, sugar beets, potatoes, vegetables, tobacco, and other crops.

Mode of Action
• Dual Action: Functions as both an insecticide and acaricide.
• Mechanism: Acts as a cholinesterase inhibitor, disrupting the nervous system of pests, leading to paralysis and death.

Application Guidelines
• Method: Applied as a foliar spray.
• Dosage:
• Cotton: For bollworms, use 1500–2000 ml/ha diluted in 500–1000 liters of water.
• Soybean: For semilooper and girdle beetle, use 1000 ml/ha diluted in 500 liters of water.
• Pre-Harvest Interval: Typically 15 days for cotton and up to 40 days for soybean.

Safety and Environmental Considerations
• Toxicity: Highly toxic to bees and aquatic life. Avoid application during flowering or when bees are active.
• Re-entry Interval: Do not enter treated areas within 24 hours without protective clothing.
• Storage: Store securely away from food, feed, and water sources.
